Description

SATOR, the well-known Latin palindrome (Word or expression that reads the same from left to right as from right to left) is composed of five words, each of which includes five letters, so that the same sequence of words can be read in a 5x5 square, from top to bottom, from bottom to top, from left to right and from right to left.

This palindrome was found engraved in square, circular and cross-shaped forms in various ruins in Europe, particularly in Italy, some of which are more than 2000 years old.

Its use is associated with protection, since it was carved next to the main doors of houses. Furthermore, this painting did not remain in a single period or place: There are records of the SATOR painting even in Iceland in the 17th century, there are even vestiges of the painting written in different languages, such as its presence in the Icelandic Galdrabók, where it appears written in Runes.
