Description
The Medal of Saint Benedict is a Christian sacramental medal containing iconography related to Saint Benedict of Nursia. It is used by Catholics, Anglicans, and in some Lutheran, Methodist and Western Orthodox communities.
It is one of the oldest medals in Christianity and those who wear it have control and power against evil.
The obverse of the medal features an image of Benedict of Nursia and the reverse has, among other things, the initials of the phrase Vade retro satana, a Catholic formula of medieval origin that derives from a phrase that the Gospel of Mark (8:33) puts on the lips of Jesus of Nazareth.
